Peninnah Tukamwesiga is an Advocate of the High Court of Uganda with over a decade of experience. Her academic background is extensive, as she is currently pursuing a PhD in Law from the University of South Africa. She holds a Master of Laws degree from Makerere University, a Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre, and a Bachelor of Laws degree (Hons) from Uganda Christian University. Beyond her formal degrees, Peninnah has undertaken significant postgraduate training, including Trustee Training from the Johannesburg School of Finance and training on the National Governance of Occupational Safety and Health from the International Training Centre in Geneva.
Her specialized training demonstrates a deep focus on governance, finance, and dispute resolution. She has completed Mediation Training by Justice Centers – Uganda and multiple programs in corporate governance, specifically Corporate Governance Training by Euromoney Learning Solutions and Corporate Governance and Risk Management Training by Global Focus Training Group. Her expertise in finance is further highlighted by her participation in the World Bank Pension Core Course in Washington, DC, USA, and her accreditation as a Master Trustee by the Johannesburg School of Finance, South Africa. Additionally, she has engaged in training on a strategic approach to investment by Public Administration International (PAI) in London, United Kingdom, and Trustee training by the Uganda Retirement Benefits Regulatory Authority. Her development as a director is evidenced by The Effective Director Training from Strathmore Business School and further training in Corporate Governance and Human Resource by PAI.
Peninnah Tukamwesiga's professional experience includes several high-profile board memberships and leadership roles. Since 2021, she has served as a Board member of Kampala Serena Hotel, and since August 2015, she has been a Board member of the National Social Security Fund (NSSF). She has also been a Board member of Uganda Clays Ltd from October 2015 to date. From September 2014 to 2018, she was a Panelist of the Industrial Court, showcasing her legal and dispute resolution involvement. Currently, she holds the position of Deputy Secretary General of COFTU since 2017 and is the Head of Legal Aid at the Central Organisation of Free.
